More than a handful of times over the past few months, LinkedIn has invited me to contribute to their “collaborative articles,” which are initially started by AI. LinkedIn then invites expert members to contribute their knowledge.
As someone who has been an AI hobbyist for some time now (and now an AI entrepreneur), I found myself intrigued but also a bit skeptical. The platform promises enhanced visibility and a "contributor highlight" for those who share their expertise, yet many of us, including myself, haven’t seen these benefits materialize—I still don’t have any sort of special shiny badge on my LinkedIn profile. There’s also not much transparency around how these articles are being used, along with the information that we share. It makes me wonder, are they taking our contributions and using them to train their own GPT?
This experience led me to discover WomenTech's Women in Tech Collaborative Articles, which offer a lot more transparency about their collaborative articles, and I began to ponder how my contributions could genuinely support and elevate other women in tech, particularly Black women who are still underrepresented in our field.
The Power of Collaborative Articles in Amplifying DEI
Collaborative articles have a lot of potential to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the tech community. By pooling together insights from a wide mix of people, these articles can shed light on unique challenges and provide multifaceted solutions and stories that might otherwise go unheard. WomenTech’s initiative, in particular, creates a platform where women from various backgrounds can share their insights, propelling important conversations that drive the industry forward.
How WomenTech’s Initiative Stands Out
Unlike my experience on LinkedIn, WomenTech’s collaborative articles offer a more structured and rewarding approach. Contributors are carefully selected based on their expertise and commitment to DEI, ensuring that every article presents a variety of valuable perspectives. This format not only enhances the quality of content but also assures contributors that their voices will be heard and appreciated.
Engaging with WomenTech’s Collaborative Articles
Here’s how you can dive in and make the most of this opportunity:
Discover: Navigate through different categories and find articles that resonate with your interests or challenges you’ve faced.
Interact: Share your reactions, save articles for later, or flag contributions that don’t add value—your feedback shapes the quality of the content.
Contribute: Add your perspective by clicking "Add your perspective" in relevant sections. Engaging thoughtfully can earn you recognition as a Top Contributor, making you a key voice in our community.
I’m excited to see how my contributions will support others, especially as we strive to amplify the voices of Black women in tech, who bring invaluable perspectives to our industry. Visit WomenTech Network’s Women in Tech Collaborative Articles to check out my contributions and others, and let me know what you think!
